New Year, new me?

Nah. But I'm trying some new things. And some old ones.

Today I had a good start. I woke up in a good mood, sang in the shower. I had looked up traditions for New Years and discovered that pork and rice pudding are traditional Good Luck foods. As a child, I remember my aunt always prepared lentil soup with pennysliced hot dogs for New Years.

So the night before I went to the grocery and got pork chops, rice pudding and lentil soup. I'm avoiding processed meats, so I gave the hotdogs a miss.

The lentil soup was awful. Really bad. I forced down a couple of bites, then offered some to Wren. She responded by spitting it back into the bowl. It's now feeding the trash can. Next year I'll try my hand at homemade.

I prepared the pork chop myself, so I was satisfied with the results.

I was in a good mood most of the day, though I did kinda break my intention to not spend.

  1. Happy new year! And good for you!

I sing in the shower almost every morning and it is a mood lifter. Can't live without my shower radio.

Pork chops are so easy to prepare and so inexpensive, so there's no guilt. And no guilt is a great way to start the new year, isn't it?
