The other day I had trouble shaking a memory of a bad time in my life. I retreated to the communal rest room in our office building and into a stall to shake myself out of it in privacy.
So there I am, organizing my thoughts, and reminding myself, that I'm here, and this is now. and then.... the stall door is shoved open and hits me in the head, snapping my neck to the side. I'm not ashamed to say I let out a shriek that was much fear as it was surprise and pain.
Of course, my assailant was just a woman in a hurry to get to the bathroom, who came upon a rather iffy stall latch. She apologized profusely. I waved it off, though I walked around with a headache and neck pain the rest of the day. The pain was gone next morning, but it took two or three days for my mood to improve.
