I'm so fortunate to have a job that I like, with people I enjoy. Sure, it has its irritations from time to time, but in truth I'm pretty spoiled.
I'm very lucky to have family and friends I can count on, and to know that they know that they can - and do - count on me. There are a lot of people who feel disconnected and alone. I'm blessed to have my family and friends.
I'm grateful every day for technology. From flushing toilets to cell phones and the internet, our lives are touched and bettered by so much of what we clever, clever humans have made.
I never realized how much I valued quiet and alone time until my daughter, her husband and their four children (all under 7) moved in with me. Being able to clear my mind and organize my thoughts, having quiet without so I can be quiet within, is so refreshing.
November 7: List 5 things you wish you had with you today.
Last Friday, that would have included my coworker, who was on vacation, my lunch, which I forgot, extra cash, a warmer coat, and a bottle of Coke.
November 8: What are the achievements you are most proud of?
My children, my job and the advancement I've made in it these past few years, and my blog, which is a kind of hobby/career in itself.
November 9: What gadgets did you use today?
I guess technically my Kindle and cell phone could be gadgets. I used them both at various times.
November 10: What shocked you?
When? Just now? It would have to be the 'bomb cyclone' we're hearing about, as a record-breaking barometer dip in Alaska threatens to drive our unseasonably warm 60-degrees temps to snow and ice on Thursday. I wonder where my boots are.
October diary catch-up

I keep making plans for what I'll do when my daughter and her family have their own place.
October 27: How many emails did you have today?
I don't recall this far back.

As Above, So Below, back in August (if you mean in the theater)

Absolutely. I frequently "just deal" with less than what I want.
October 30: What is standing in your way?
October 31: What was the happiest headline in the news today?
The Cranston teachers union agreed to their new contract.
In my life...
Sunday I went to see Interstellar, the new science fiction movie by Christopher Nolan. It was a really visually impactful movie. The story got a little tangled as the movie went on, but it was amazing to see.
Things that make me happy:
Two words: Salmon Cannon.
