The MetMuseum calendar art of the day is a Panasonic Radio from 1969:

I remember coveting these as a child. Orange was the hot color of the time.  They went by the name "Toot-a-Loop."


But I got instead the blue "Death Star" radio, which I also loved.
Of course, the Death Star was just a glimmer in George Lucas' eye back then. To me it looked like a cross between a robot and Cookie Monster.

It makes me think of other toys of my youth:

Some of these I didn't have, some I did, but they all made a big impact on me as a child.
