Happy First Day of Summer/Solstice/Litha!

to celebrate, I had a Del's frozen lemonade (Rhode Island classic), ice cream sandwich, lemon poppy macaron ice cream sandwich, and mac and cheese.

Litha is the celebration of the summer solstice - the longest day of the year, when the sun is at its highest power. Yellow foods, orange foods and red foods represent the sun, and fresh summer fruits are good to recognize the day.

It was also Gay Pride Day, and Bear and I went to Pride Fest. Providence is a very diverse city with a strong and active sexuality spectrum community, so there were about four blocks of booths including healthcare insurance companies, churches, advocacy agencies, awareness agencies, and vendors of everything from cupcakes to...well, intimate items. There was lots of color and happiness. Bear saw a lot of her friends from school there, and we ran into several people we know, including our pastor.

Today was a good day. I'm glad I decided to go out for a change.

  1. I think it's so cool that you went to the pride festivities as a family.
