May 29, 2014

This morning I watched All the President's Men and Syriana as part of the 3rd 101 Things in 1001 Days. I've seen Men before, but I think this is my first time watching Syriana.

A confession: I'd started smoking again when I went to visit the grandmonsters. I was determined to quit again after I got home, and I did, but it's just been since yesterday that I've been feeling at all like myself.

So I haven't been blogging. I've barely been staying awake as my system tries to sleep off the detox and the miserable crankiness that comes with it. Still, I managed to snap at Bear Monday night. Although really, as grumpy as she's been lately, it was my turn.

Anyway, All the President's Men is about how Woodward and Bernstein broke the Watergate story. In what should have been a boring plod, Redford and Pacino manage to keep the tension going right up to the end.

Syriana is a complicated interweaving of stories centering on the oil trade in the Middle East, and the people, companies and governments that try to manipulate it. It's a little hard to follow, but you get there eventually.

  2. Psssst! It was Hoffman, not Pacino, in ATPM. I haven't seen Syriana. I'm afraid to. A friend of mine told me he thought I'd get too into it.
