May 12, 2014

I've fallen behind in the dailies, and rather than try to catch up, I'll just start from here.

We went to New York for Mother's Day. Technically, it's my mom's 50th Mother's Day, so I thought it would be nice for us to all get together. We got all three sisters, and a collection of assorted children together with Mom and Dad, and we all went to dinner at a favorite family restaurant. After that, we all trooped over to the local community theater, where my son was performing in Les Miserables.

I bought myself a new hat, which makes me very happy. Though you can't really tell from the picture.

I read A Train in Winter. It was a powerful and descriptive story of women in the French resistance during WWII who are captured and sent to various concentration/work/extermination camps. Told via first and second-hand interviews by the author, and following up with the women and the impact of their experiences on their post-war lives.

For Kwizgiver's Blog Every Day in May: How did your blog get its name?
"endomental" is a made-up word meaning "inside the mind."

  1. I never knew that's what "endomental" meant. Thanks!

Sounds like you had a lovely Mother's Day, ensconced in family. It's cool that your son had a big cheerleading section in the audience for his performance. And I detect a touch of suppressed mirth in your hat self portrait.
