Unknown vandals threw paint on the Lincoln Memorial last night.

The Washington Post reported that there were no words or symbols in the paint, so it appears just to be an act of malice or mischief. The memorial will be closed this morning while the paint is cleaned up.

Fun fact, before the downlighting that gives Mr. Lincoln his somber appearance was installed, light from the reflecting pool uplit the statue, making him look kind of freaked out:

  1. I'm surprised that there isn't more security. After all, you're on camera every moment when you're not in your room in Vegas. You'd think they could figure out how to put these beautiful monuments under surveillance. I feel so bad for any children who didn't get to climb the stairs and see Abe. The first time you see him is a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Sorry if anyone had to miss it.
