Believe to be beautiful

They say you should have nothing in your home that you don't know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. I'm working my way towards that. These are a few of my "keepers."

A Weather vane I found at a yard sale. I don't know what about it is beautiful to me, but I like it. At the moment, it's held up by a rat-tail candle.
Monkeys fist knot

This is a monkey's fist knot. I don't know what its purpose is supposed to be, but I was taken with its shape and texture.

And this is Hester, another yard sale find. Hester isn't beautiful in the conventional sense. In fact, she looks a bit like shes' about to stab someone. But she appeals to my sense of the ridiculous and the antique. I don't know how old she really is, but she seems pretty old to me. It's likely she once held a flag or something in her outstretched hand, and there's a hole at her base that makes me think she might have been up on a pole of some kind.
