I bought art!

Another of my 101 Things in 1001 Days is to buy 3 items of Rhode Island art to hang in my home. Who knew it would happen so quickly?

Yesterday was the RISD Student Art Sale. They set tents up on Benefit Street, and students can sell their work. The prices are reasonable, and the talent runs the gamut from refined to raw. I found a couple of pieces that I loved and was able to bring home.

This will go in my kitchen.

Sadly, I don't have a card for the young woman who sold me a delicately drawn Madonna printed on a page of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.

The book was being discarded by a local library and the pages are small and yellowed and beautiful.

That makes two out of three in a single day. And I supported local student artists. And I have some fun and beautiful art for my home.

  1. I LOOOVE the second one! It's why I look forward to used book sales and mourn e-readers, too.

    1. I just can't mourn the e-reader. My Kindle Fire is one of the best purchases I ever made.

Even so, I love the feel of a book.
