Kitchen Witch Wednesday

I haven't done one of these in awhile, so why not start back up with a pagan meme?
swiped from The Witch of Howling Creek:

B A S I C S
Do you have a magical/Pagan name? No; I believe our given names are magical in and of themselves, having been lovingly chosen by someone who cared (at least in my lucky case.) Note: I swiped this response from The Witch, too, but I couldn't have said it better.

What does it mean? My first name means "eternal ruler." My children would agree. Because I'd make them.

How did you find Paganism? I didn't so much find paganism, as it found me. I have a number of friends who practice various types of paganism. The underlying cohesion of appreciation for creation reverence for the creative force and respect for others is very appealing. Even so, I apply those tenets to the worship of what most consider the Christian God.

How long have you been practicing? I don't know if you can call it "practicing" as much as developing a philosophy.

Solitary or group practitioner? Solitary

What is your path? Informal Kitchen/Cottage/Christian Witch

Are you out of the broom closet?  I guess I am now. Sort of. There's a closet?

D E I T Y
Who is your patron God? None. I believe in the ungendered Christian God.

Who is your patron Goddess? Same as above

What Gods do you worship? Again, see above.

Do you fear darkly aspected Gods/Goddess, or rather respect them? Neither. I think the personalities that we humans place on gods and goddesses are reflections of our fears and aspirations for ourselves and for humankind. But I'm scared as hell of evil people.

Do you worship the Christian God? I believe I do. I'm sure there are some Christians who would disagreed.

Do you ever worship animals? No

Or plants? No

N A T U R E
Do you regularly commune with nature? Not as often as I should.

Ever walked barefoot in the woods? Yes, but I'm more likely to seek out the beach.

Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature? Talk to? No. Be in? yes.

Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth? Walking along a forest path, listening to REM's "losing my religion" as a perfect breeze blew my hair around.

Do you have a familiar? No.

Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual? No. I haven't done ritual, but I'm unlikely to call on the powers of an animal.

Or a plant? No.

Do you hug trees? No.

Give them gifts? Not really. I'm not much of a gardener, but I do occasionally water the trees in our yard.

What is your favourite flower to work with? I haven't worked with flowers.

What is your favourite tree to work with? I've not worked with trees before. I'm intrigued by rowan and willow, though.

W H E E L . O F . T H E . Y E A R

What is your favourite holiday? Christmas

What is your least favourite holiday? It's a toss-up between New Year's Eve and St. Patrick's Day. Both have devolved into excuses to get drunk and act like idiots.

Have you ever held a ritual on a holiday? Not of a religious nature. I have family traditions that I keep for the holidays.

Ever taken a day off work to celebrate a Pagan holiday? Nope.

Do you celebrate Yule on the 21 rather than the 25? I celebrate Yule on the 21st and Christmas on the 25th.

Have you ever felt the veil thin? Yes, but it didn't coincide with a holiday.

Ever danced the Maypole? Once at a Ren Faire. It wasn't at Beltane though.

Know what the Maypole symbolizes? Same thing most poles symbolize.

How do you usually celebrate the Pagan holidays? Other than acknowledging them mentally, I haven't separated out the pagan holidays for celebration. At least not so far.

D I V I N A T I O N
Do you use Tarot? Yes, and I seem to be pretty good at it.

Do you use runes? No. They don't speak to me.

Do you use a pendulum? I have.

Do you use dowsing rods? No.

Do you use astrology? I read my horoscope, but I don't make charts or anything like that.

Any other form of divination? I've had prophetic dreams.

S P E L L S
What was the first spell you did? A rain dance, many long years ago.

What was the latest? I don't even remember. It might be that same rain dance.

Ever done a love spell? Nope.

A job spell? Yes, see below.

A healing spell? Yes, see below.

What was the most powerful spell you’ve ever performed? I don't really do spells so much as focused prayer.

What deities do you usually call on? Just the one.

C R Y P T O Z O O L O G Y
Do you believe in Vampires? I believe there are people who believe they are vampires. Certainly there are psychiatric and medical conditions that would look like vampirism. There's some reason these creatures exist across unrelated cultures.

Werewolves? see above.

Shapeshifters? see above, but even less likely.

Elves? Possibly.

Faeries? Possibly.

Dragons? Not anymore, but it's possible there once were.

Nymphs? Possibly.

Sprites? As with nymphs.

Mermaids? Again, I think they’re too fantastic and widespread for humans to have completely dreamt up.

Satyrs? Not as such.

Ever “seen” any of the above? No.

Ever talked to any of the above? No

Ever used any of the above in magic? No. See my answer to "spells"

Do you have one of them as a personal guardian? I don’t believe so

R A N D O M
Do you see a rabbit, a man or a woman in the moon? A man.

Own a cat? Technically, yes. But it's really Bear's cat.

When you meditate, what does your happy place look like? I don't meditate. At least, I haven't started yet.

Do you work with Chakras? No

Do you believe in past lives? I believe in the possibility.

Do you believe in soul mates? Sometimes.

Do you have a spirit guide? No.

Is it always love and light? Who? Me, or paganism? Because I can be a grouchy ol' crone.
