The August Project: August 1, 2012

  1. Happiness challenge: Fresh starts. I love the feeling of starting fresh with a new set of goals, and the feeling of anticipation and motivation that goes with it.
  2. Mark baseline weight.  DONE   204.8
  3. Exercise 30 minutes (cumulative)
  4. Dinner tonight: Ham with mixed vegetables and corn.
  5. Currently reading: Nathan Hale: the life and death of America's first spy and Plain Truth
  6. Progress on 101 Things List: There are currently 28 items on the list that I started back in 2009.
  7. I{h}R blog post: Today I'm going to get my notes organized and set up a writing schedule.
  8. Decide on (and do) a project around the house: Today I'm going to make a list of the projects that need to be done around the house.
  9. Get the big TV out of the house: Today I'll ask our landlords to help us move the TV. If they can't do it today, I'll ask them to commit to a date/time. They agreed to help me move the TV after dinner.
  10. Make, and stick to, a cleaning schedule for the house: Today Bear and I will make a cleaning schedule we can both agree on, and do today's cleaning chore.
  11. Do today's cleaning chore:  the entryway: wipe down the window sill, the door and frame, the light switch. Dust the shelf and knick knacks, tidy up the table and sweep/mop the floor.
  12. How/what will we celebrate today? Today is Lammas, a harvest festival. Celebrate by eating (and giving thanks for) summer crops like corn, summer fruits and berries, etc. Lammas is a corruption of "Loaf-mass," so baking and/or eating bread is also traditional
  13. Update calendar for tomorrow

Well, today didn't go exactly as planned. I did make dinner, and made contact with the landlords. Not much else got accomplished, since my beloved child spent the majority of the day in the ER, getting her back injury tended. She has a sprained back and will be doing some exercises with painkillers and muscle relaxers. My poor Bear... improvement will be a process.

  1. Good luck on your projects! I'm interested in your review of the Nathan Hale book.

    1. Thanks! I'll be sure to get that book done so I can review it.

  2. Welcome to the Happiness Challenge! And I think it's great that you're reading about Nathan Hale. I know almost nothing about him, and that's just wrong.
