  1. Star Wars. The one that started it all. The movie that became a lifestyle.

    It had cutting-edge effects that had to be invented for the film, yet also relied on tried-and-true stop-motion. We in the pre-CGI 70's were amazed - amazed! - by the realism in the fantasy.

    A lot has been written about the basic hero's journey of the story, and how it was a storytelling trope that was long-missing in American folklore. At the time, we just knew that we loved it. It not only entertained, but fired our imaginations. What else was happening in that galaxy far, far away? What was next for our heroes?

    Those flights of imagination still impact today's film, for good or ill.
