Monday Movie Meme

There are lots of movies these days that tell the stories about the lives of real people. We prefer the sweeping tales of a person's life story as opposed to snapshots of moments in their time. There are lots of examples that sprung to mind and we've shared a few of them below. Sometimes the films feature people we're already familiar with and other times they introduce us to them. Either way, we had a hard time coming up with biopics featuring women - maybe you can rectify that in your post. Share on your blog movies featuring portrayals of real people and their life stories, linking back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

The Miracle Worker: Annie Sullivan teaches Helen Keller the meaning of language. Helen teaches Annie the importance of stubborn perseverance. Interesting note: Patty Duke played Helen in the 1962 version, and went on to play Annie in the 1979 version.

Iron-Jawed Angels: Persistent young activists Alice Paul and Harriot Blach lead the fight for women's suffrage in 1918.

Boys Town: Spencer Tracy as Father Flanagan, founder of Boys Town orphanage in 1921. Tracy won his second Oscar for the role.

  1. And I haven't seen any of these; need to place these viewings on my to-watch list. Thank you for the suggestions!

  2. Spot on with The Miracle Worker. I discovered that movie just a few years ago on TV somewhere and was absolutely riveted.

  3. Oh, those are great choices! I loved them all. I just saw the Miracle Worker recently.

  4. My library has three - count 'em three - versions. I've decided to watch them all.
