Get back to blogging: Your first post

I stumbled across "The Secret is in the Sauce" today, through Spawnocaplypse. They're hosting a week-long "back to blogging event." Today's challenge: re-post your first post. So, here it is:

From April 22, 2006:

If you're willing to give frugal a miss, you can shop and feel ecologically good about it.

Purses made of recycled candy bar wrappers at ecoist. I want a silver one! Check out their movie poster totes, too.

Install compact fluorescent energy bulbs. According to energystar.gov, "If every household in the U.S. replaced one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), it would prevent enough pollution to equal removing one million cars from the road." We've replaced one bulb so far. You can be assured we'll be adding to them as time goes on.

Funky and practical as well as eco-friendly, treehugger shares the idea of a door mat made out of recycled flip-flop material. Look for them at Fairtrade and WetSand. When my present mat wears out, I know where I'll be looking for a new one.

Save a tree...or ten or more, when you download audiobooks to your digital player. Audible and Learn Out Loud are just two sites offering didgi-books.

Make furniture out of recycled magazines, with instructions from German designer Mareike Gast. Thanks to design*sponge for this find. I may have figured out how to furnish my office.

That should be enough to keep anyone busy awhile.

Happy Earth Day!
