Oscar hopes

The Oscar nominations are out, with few surprises. I've bolded the ones I hope will win. Which isn't to say I'm predicting it, just wishing for it. Sometimes dreams come true, no?

Best Picture: “Avatar,” “The Blind Side,” “District 9,” “An Education,” “The Hurt Locker,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Precious: Based on the Novel ’Push’ by Sapphire,” “A Serious Man,” “Up,” “Up in the Air.”

  1. I enjoy with Inglourious Basterds more in retrospect. I was appalled by how joyful my fellow filmgoers were, but that's THEIR fault, not Tarantino's. I prefer to think he crafted a terrific fable about moral relativity.

    Precious, Up and Up in the Air were terrific, too -- all so different that I don't know if I have a favorite.

    I haven't seen The Hurt Locker or The Blind Side. (Nor Avatar, but I'm not interested in it.)
