The Bumbles host the Monday Movie Meme, a weekly themed movie challenge.
This week's topic is all about Highs and Lows: "I'm sure you have a favorite actor/actress. Someone whose work you admire enough to overlook, or even forget completely, those performances where they weren't quite on their game. Or perhaps there is someone whose portrayals are usually forgettable, but they have surprised you with a gem here or there. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut as they say."
The obvious choice for me is Harrison Ford
The Good: Witness. A good cop discovers corruption leading to the very top of his department, and must hide among the Amish while he figures out what to do. Ford was nominated for an Academy Award for his turn as John Book. Also of note: Regarding Henry, the Star Wars trilogy, American Graffiti, Presumed Innocent, the Indiana Jones movies (1-3), Air Force One.
The Bad: Hollywood Homicide. A buddy comedy teaming aging heartthrob Ford with up-and-coming (but never really got there) heartthrob Josh Hartnett. Soup to nuts, just badly done. Also of note: K-19 - the Widowmaker, Firewall.
The Ugly: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. A plot too far gone to suspend disbelief and Ford often "I'm too old for this stuff," along with the sequence that made "nuke the fridge" the new "jump the shark." Also of note: Mosquito Coast.
