In memoriam: Miep Gies

Miep Gies, who helped to hide the Frank and Van Daan families and Fritz Pfeffer in the annex of Otto Frank's spice company, died today at age 100. It was Gies who discovered Anne Frank's diary after the family were deported to concentration camps in Germany. She sent the diaries on to Anne's father, the sole surviving member of the family.
