Movie review: She Done Him Wrong

Mae West and a very young Cary Grant tell the story of Lady Lou, a seemingly tough, kept woman who in fact has a heart of gold for those she cares about.

Lou's boss keeps her in booze and diamonds, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying the attentions - and diamonds - of a variety of other men. She later discovers that he affords these luxuries through prostitution and counterfeiting. At the same time, the boyfriend she promised to wait for until he got out of jail has escaped. Meanwhile she finds herself curiously attracted to Temperence Mission Captain Grant.

It all comes together with a slight twist to the ending. It was pretty enjoyable.

She Done Him Wrong was on the AFI's 100 Years, 100 Quotes list for "Why don't you come up sometime and see me?"
