book of seasons: World Freedom Day

Commemorates the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. This year marks the 20th anniversary.

Regardless your feeling on Germany, the U.S.' role in foreign affairs and/or Ronald Reagan, it's a good day to appreciate our freedom and the effort and risks that went into achieving it.

  1. Memories of this day are chilling for me. I had been working at my current job for a little less than ayear and late in December 1989, our music department symphony orchestra travelled to the old USSR. They were there when Russians, et al, were able to celebrate Christmas for the first time since the 1917 revolution. it was a truly amazing time.
