Monday movie meme

This week's topic is about Westerns

I'm not a big fan of Westerns, but here are a couple of my favorites:

Blazing Saddles: Probably Mel Brooks' funniest work. Completely politically incorrect, but very funny all the same.
Hedley Lamarr: "My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening through a cosmic vapor of invention."
Taggart: "Ditto."

True Grit: John Wayne comes of age with the help of a teenage girl and Glen Campbell.
Rooster Cogburn: "When's the last time you saw Ned Pepper?"
Emmett Quincy: "I don't remember any Ned Pepper. "
Rooster Cogburn: "Short feisty fella, nervous and quick, got a messed-up lower lip."
Emmett Quincy: "That don't bring nobody to mind. A funny lip?"
Rooster Cogburn: "Wasn't always like that, I shot him in it."
Emmett Quincy: "In the lower lip? What was you aiming at?"
Rooster Cogburn: "His upper lip."

High Noon: Gary Cooper stands his ground, in spite of his uncooperative wife and the townspeople he swore to protect.
Hotel Clerk: "You're Mrs. Kane, ain't you?"
Amy Kane: "Yes."
Hotel Clerk: "You're leaving on the noon train?"
Amy Kane: "Yes."
Hotel Clerk: "But your husband ain't?"
Amy Kane: "No, why?"
Hotel Clerk: "No reason, but it's mighty interesting. Now, me, I wouldn't leave this town at noon for all the tea in China. No, sir, it's going to be quite a sight to see!"

  4. You're so right! How could I have forgotten!

  5. I love the scene in True Grit, towards the end, where Rooster yells, "Fill yer hands, you sonovabitch!"
