book of seasons: Christmas family recipe: Meringues

2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 tsp. vanilla extract

1. Beat egg whites and salt until stiff but not dry
2. Add sugar gradually and continue beating.
3. Fold in chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
4. Drop from teaspoon 2" apart on greased baking sheet.
5. Bake 325 for 15 minutes
