Movie review: Revolutionary Road

Revolutionary Road poster
I just didn't like it. DeCaprio and Winslet, together again after Titanic show us that it was probably better that Jack ended up freezing to death in the Atlantic.

The movie is set in the 1950s. Winslet and DeCaprio play a couple, Frank and April Wheeler, who met and fell in love at a party, and probably married way too fast. Now they're in the burbs with two kids. He's in a job he hates. She's stagnating as a housewife.

Their frustration and struggles, rubberbanding between tossing it all to live their dreams and staying where they are to achieve middle-class success, play out over two hours of tight fake smiles and screaming matches. They love each other. They hate each other. They hurt each other. They manipulate each other.

All in all, I could have spent the time more productively.
