Book review: The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman

This is the Newberry Award winner for 2008. It's a charming story about a baby boy who toddles out of his house while his parents and sister are being murdered, and wanders into the local graveyard. The murderer tries to find him, but he's protected by the ghosts and raised by them, with a vampire for a guardian. He's safe inside the cemetary.

The story covers the fourteen years that little Nobody "Bod" Owens lived in the graveyard, including his brief foray into school and his friendship with a little living girl.

All in all it's an entertaining book. A quick read that's full of hope and interest and imagination. It's not all happy or fun, but it's interesting.
