Homemade instant oatmeal


Re-Nest has a helpful post about how to make your own instant oatmeal, including a fake version of Quaker's Simple Harvest maple brown sugar with pecans. The recipe is really simple, just rolled oats, powdered oats, powdered milk and flavoring. They also offer great mix-it-up suggestions, including pecans and dried cranberries. I'm sold.

Another idea I would never have thought of: "For something different, try making steel cut oats at night and reheating a bowl each morning; they really hold their texture and flavor. We make up a big pot on Sunday night and eat them three days in a row." What a great idea!
