Heard about the Times Square Ball?
The famous ball-drop in Times Square just got snazzier. The new, bigger replacement ball is made of 2,468 Waterford crystal triangles, lit from within by a series of L.E.D. bulbs that will let it glow in up to 16 million colors. The ball, which is twice the size of the most recent one, will be on display all year, and can be used for other events as well as the New Year's drop. Something else I learned: the ball drop is 101 years old, and this is the seventh ball that's been used in that time.
