inside the mind

A silly, bawdy movie. Very clever dialog, fast-paced and witty. Still, I just didn't enjoy it all that much. I had a hard time getting around the sixties makeup and bangs worked into the very respectably done costumes.

Tom is found abandoned on the bed of his benefactor, Squire Jones. The squire vows to raise him and immediately banishes the supposed mother and father. Knowing that no good could come from a child borne out of wedlock, everyone expects the "little bastard" to grow up fit for nothing more than the hangman's noose.

Tom's licentious adventures and narrow escapes make for an entertaining couple of hours, and the climax goes with Dickensian predictability.
