Movie review: Modern Times

Charlie Chaplin once said he only needed "a park, a policeman and a pretty girl" to make comedy. He has all that and more in this film. His classic Little Tramp character foibles his way through life, labor, strikes, unions, jail, the service industry and - with the help of a Gamin (Paulette Goddard) - romance.

As always, the little tramp is beset by misfortune, but manages to find love and wander off into the sunset. This is one of Chaplin's classics, and a classic of comedy.
