This movie is beautifully shot, short on dialog, and tells the story of the last emperor of China in backstory as he enters a prison.
Raised with a wet nurse instead of his mother in the Forbidden City, Pu Yi is spoiled, willful and all that you'd expect a child emperor to be. His mother, brother and foster mother must bow and scrape to him, and he learns this as a divine right of entitlement. Unfortunately, it is not, as he learns to his and his country's distress throughout the course of the movie.
