Movie review: Duck Soup

A Marx Brothers classic, full of sharp machine-gun wit, sight gags, silly songs and nonsense. Groucho plays Rufus T. Firefly, newly-elected leader of Freedonia, whose election was strong-armed by Gloria Teasdale (Margaret DuMont).

Between making a mockery of his cabinet and alternately romancing and tearing down Mrs. Teasdale, Firefly is beset by the spies Chicolini (Chico) and Pinky (Harpo). It's best to ignore logic or even a linear thought process while following this film; it's really just a showcase for skit after skit. One can't-miss is the "mirror scene" between Groucho and Harpo.

Definitely worth a rental, if not a purchase.
